Mysteries beyond closed doors part 2

"… Your mother… Hospital…. Remember..?"

It was all a blur inside of Demyx's head as those words echoed for what seemed like an eternity.
What did Zexion mean by that?
Of course she wasn't! She had called for him just a few minutes ago, right?

Demyx smiled and laughed a little, "Okay that was a good one, Zexy. But you really shouldn't joke about that kind of stuff." he said as he dragged his fingers through his hair.

But Zexion didn't look like he did when he was trying to fool Demyx, and he hardly ever told jokes.No, this was Zexion's dead serious face; his eyes didn't even blink as he just stared at Demyx.

"Did you really forget? She's been in the hospital since last Thursday. She was involved in an armed robbery and was shot. Demyx, how can you not remember this?" said Zexion in a disbelieving voice but it still sounded as if he was trying to be as comforting and sensitive as possible, "Do you want to go to her instead of going to the movies? It's fine with me, the theater will still be there tomorrow." he said with a little smile. Demyx felt like such an ass, he had no memory of this at all…

It was tear filled eyes that met Zexion's when Demyx finally regained his composure. "Zexion… What is happening to me?" he asked in a quiet whisper. Zexion didn't know what to answer since he was debating that subject, himself. Despite being deep in thought, he smiled at the blonde and placed his hand on Demyx's upper arm, "I don't know. But c'mon, let's go see your mum. I must warn you though; they still haven't been able to contact her. She is in a coma."

Zexion's words terrified Demyx; how could he not remember his own mother being in a coma?! Something was very wrong and it was a dazed and absent-minded Demyx who was being led out to his car. Luckily, Zexion actually had a driver's license. He just couldn't afford a car on his own.

A few moments later they rushed into the tiny white room in the hospital with a small, blonde nurse right behind them. "Um… Mister Hitake? The visiting hours are long over, you're not supposed to be here!" she said, quietly but still sounding distressed.
Zexion pushed Demyx down in a chair beside the bed and then ushered the girl out of the room, "Nurse… I can call you Namine, right?" the girl nodded, "I am afraid that this visit is highly important, Demyx doesn't seem to remember what has happened. He didn't know  that his mother had been in an accident…"
